Hazy amber color. Earthy malt aroma. Fresh malt taste, easily drinkable, caramel, with a precise apple character, ending with a bold bitterness.

Mid-brown colour. Fruity nose. Malt and plenty of bitterness on the palate. Dry bitter finish. Full-bodied. A nice best bitter. Handpump, The Cherry Tree, Woodbridge, October 2003

Cask at the Hoop and Grapes, Aldgate. Light fruity hop aroma. Amber gold color with a firm white head. Starts fruity, followed by malt, followed by bitter. Not quite medium mouthfeel. The finish is very well balanced. Almost a peach hint in the finish. Otherwise fairly astringent at the end.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Lamplighter Northampton A dark copper coloured beer with a thin whitish bubbly head. The aroma and taste are reminiscent of a decent English best bitter with some berry notes amongst the predominantly malt character. I’m not normally a fan of Black Sheep but this was good.

Cask Conditioned at The Swan, Banbury. Golden with thick head. Thick light malt beer, sharp, nosey with a boiled hop overnote, a little cabbagy. Decent balance but not that special.

[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A hazy amber beer with a fine orange head. The aroma is sweet matly with notes of caramel - warm and inviting. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel leading to a dry bitter and woody end.

cask @ The Old Bakery, Kenilworth. Dark gold in colour with aromas of hay, green apple, and a bit of spice. Flavors are of mild grassy hops upfront before a flourish of dry bready British pale malts. Light bodied, mild bitterness, and a reasonably effective thirst quencher. Average.
