Poured orangey copper with a good sized, thick, frothy off-white head which lasted well. A good malty/caramel aroma with earthy hops, English yeast, tangerines, some bread and just a hint of butterscotch. Flavor was a good hop bitterness with hazelnuts, dry biscuity malts, caramel, English style marmalade, some light woody notes and a dry/earthy finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry mouthfeel and a good finish. Very sessionable. mirjukka (704), LOHJA, Finland

Lightish aroma of caramel malt, good hops, a touch of citrus, apples. Grass and pine as well. Hops dominate. Flavor also quite hoppy. Decent light fruits, citrus, grass and pine as well as apples. Slightly herbal. Light caramel malts. Dry, bitter, hoppy finish. A nice light best bitter. Not much that is original or attention-grabbing here, but not much to fault either. Good hopping. Not quite as complex as some of the bottled best bitters I have had. The malt is rather weak tasting. esox (270), Oulu, Finland
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 21, 2008 Bottled. Orange to amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma has dryish hops, slightly roasted maltiness and some raisins or dates. Some herbal spiciness too. The aroma is quite interesting but somehow it doesn´t open properly. Flavor woody dry, a bit sour and bitter. Light to medium bodied and smoothly carbonated palate. A pretty good one. urnamesucks (92), New York City, New York, USA

Some earthiness with slight malt and nearly no hop prescense. Maybe just a hint of fruit, not sure what though. Slightly sour. Would drink for free, that’s about it. EXTREAMLY basic English ale. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA
