Aroma of malt, caramel, maybe nuts, and that wonderful fruity floral hop of the English bitters. Nice amber color with an off-white head that laced and stayed. Thin to medium bodied, near creamy carbonation. The flavor starts with floral hop, quickly followed by biscuit and caramel malt. The finish is malty, but not all that sweet, fruity, and bitter. In the end it’s dry and bitter. Wonderful stuff. aerosol999 (113), Quebec, Canada

Nutty Northern Brewer-like aroma. Some sweet malts and some roasted malts. Nicely balanced. Crisp hop flavours with a solid hop bitterness that lingers a while. Medium-bodied and a little oily on the tongue. Nice bitter. BREWMUSKCLES (1092), New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 20, 2007 watery and acidy is what i get. there has been a bit of fruit (punch) and licorice added in -for whatever purpose-. there is a decent carbonation and the flavors offer a degree of complexity. the palate is a bit slick and somewhat refreshing. not bad and not memorable. yes there is a sweetish and typical english type nutty albiet watery taste in there. Quite a bitter and dry aftertaste. Quite a tasty bitter. Far from my favourite though. Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia

Copper colored. Not much perfume: a mild aroma with hints of hop. However, the flavors are more assertive. A complex blend of fruity and bitter flavors, with the bitterness winning in the end. An apple-like, almost squash like nuttiness more apparent at the beginning is balanced by the hops at the end. A fun, perky palate. Overall, a supremely pleasant ale. I feel this one is underrated by Ratebeerians because of the general preference here for bigger beers.
