Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
"Beers for bottling are drawn from brewery conditioning tanks and transported by road tanker to our bottlers. There they are chilled, stored for ten days, then filtered and bottled. At the end of the bottling process, the bottles are pasteurised, labelled and packed."
"Brewed with many generous handfuls of choice Golding hops, it is full flavoured ale with a rich fruit nose. The bittersweet malty taste is followed by an uncompromising long, dry and bitter finish. This beer was the first, most successful, of all of our bottled beers."

not too bad, smells of some fruity hops, ends up an amber brownish color and was fairly sweet.

Bottle - Pours dark amber with white head. Fruity aroma with hop notes. Sweet roasted malt flavors with bitter finish. Decent mouthfeel.

500ml bottle. Pours amber with a thin, short lasting head. Has a slight fruity aroma that, surprisingly, did not represent the amplitude of the flavour. The front end of the beer taste is quite fruity with citrus and plum notes. However, this is quickly replaced by the dominant heavy biscuity malts and a long lasting bitter after taste. Lighter than expected, based on the colour. A nice, slightly above average ale.

Not a bad beer. Quite complex flavours, nice dry crisp finish makes it refreshing.

Pirsed a deep red witha light head. Very well balance malts and smooth taste. Not overpowering or over the top. A good ale.

Bottle. I think I drank it at too cool a temperature, because I didn’t sense the complexity I was hoping for. Dry, bitter, medium bodied. Would like to try again to see if it changes my rating.

Feb. 27, 2007; 16.09 oz. bottle. Pour is cloudy & deep-amber. Smallish but creamy head; irregular lacing. Aroma is bready & full-bodied, with strong caramel notes. Flavor is more "sour" than "bitter", but not at all unpleasant when set against the candyish malt profile. Finish is slightly watery (although not excessively-so for the style), and less bitter than the best of PB/ESBs.

Hard to understand the relatively-low marks on this brew (don’t forget to let this warm up a bit!). it’s not a Fuller’s but, nonetheless, the most enjoyable ESB I’ve tried in a long time. A winner.
