Very English aroma of biscuity malts, grassy hops, diacetyl, and toffee. Some citrusy fruitiness. The flavors all crash together--orange, toffee, diacetyl, and hop bitterness jumble together before a sharp, strange-tasting finish. I’m not the biggest fan of English beers, and this one didn’t change my mind. MesandSim (5955), London, Greater London, England

50cl bottle from Asda. Typically lifeless and uninspiring English beer. Hints of orange in the aroma. Orange coloured, crap head but rather lashings of lace surprisingly. Generally hoppy body and nothing else really stands out. Nothing I can be bothered to write about anyway. Don’t bother is my advice. Palidor19 (1792), Brandon, Florida, USA

It looks and pours great! but the taste is left to be desired. Unpleasant malts and hops with good aroma. notthe best nick76 (2688), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 28, 2005 This was a real disappointment. The aroma is like dish soap or mop water. The appearance is nice however. It’s reddish amber with a nice off white head that is quite persistent. The flavor is bitter, buttery, and malty. It seems to get better as you drink it. The palate is a bit thin. Overall this is a disappointment. I was expecting something a lot better. Papsoe (15107), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 15, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Almost coppery colour, hazy with a rich and stable head. Lovely fruity ale with distinct nutty notes and a marked bitter finish. Very fresh. 100303 Sammy (4062), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Satisfying but nothing extraordinary. Understated bitterness and a great big head. Light body colour and mouthfeel. Dry and somewhat bitter aftertaste.

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 13, 2005 Poured a dark amber with amber tinged head and lace. Bitter hops on the nose. Creamy smooth palate with an initial impression of what I would call olive. A veritable bouqet of hops and silky malty biscuitness fill the mouth. This was so smooth and drinkable that I’m finally starting to "get" English Ales. Sure it doesn’t have the heaviest, most gnarly, mouthfeel but it’s meant to be a session ale, no? stickranger (3), Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2005 Nice color and head. Godd after taste. Not too bitter. As others have said, could have had more body. Very smooth. A very drinkable British Ale.
