I expected it to be a dark ale, the black sheep name I guess. Not what I thought it was, but that’s fine. Easy to drink with a clean finish. Very much enjoyed this beer. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Sep 2, 2004 Strong malt, burnt brown sugar aroma with mild notes of dark fruits and a light pleasing nuttiness. Slightly hazy copper coloured with decent white head that diminishes rapidly to cover. Some nice lacing. Malt and caramel flavours up front chased by a pleasant floral hop character and decent balancing bitterness. Medium-light body though mouthfeel perhaps a touch thin. Very enjoyable session beer. Bottle. Thanks, JoeMcPhee! shintriad (698), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Decent hop presence to balance it off. Somewhat one-dimensional, but passable. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA

Sweet aromas of clover honey, apple blossom, shortbread. Similar flavors. Some vegetable as it warms - a touch of green beans, raw peanuts - but not all bad. Plum and apricot as it warms further. Nice, quaffable, not outstanding.
