albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Jun 15, 2008 Cask at the Black’s Head, Carlton, Notts. A very bland beer, this bitter has a nice soft maltiness but very little aroma and is too bland to really be enjoyable. imdownthepub (5089), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Dec 4, 2007 Cask conditioned at The Easington, Banbury. Amber with white head. Malty, soft beer with a light biscuit flavour, some carmel, toffee but little else. Sweetish finish, nothing exciting. chriso (4667), London, Greater London, England Nov 1, 2007 Cask (handpump) at GBBF, August 2006. Dark amber colour. A soft, sweetish best bitter. The emphasis is on sweet, fruity malt and hop character is in pretty short supply - no more than a hint of earthy Goldings. Consequently lacks impact. Couldn’t really call this faulty (so I’ve erred on the side of generous in the scoring) but its not my preferred style of bitter at all.
Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Jul 31, 2007 Cask conditioned @Humble Plumb. Light soapy malts with caramel sweetness. Mild hop finish. Lacking in flavour but in no way offensive. berkshirejohn (1763), Bracknell, Berkshire, England Apr 19, 2007 Updated: May 7, 2008Cask at the Devonshire Arms, South Normanton. Sparkling gold colour with a soapy white head; initially caramel and malt dominate with some traces of fruit, but then a full bodied bitterness develops. An excellent pint of bitter. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Mar 3, 2007 golden orange colour, with a sweet malt nose. sweet honeyish malt with a little bitter in linger RichardGretton (3131), Leicestershire, England Sep 17, 2006 Cask@GBBF, 2006.
