I honestly don’t anything but the hops in the taste. The finish is very ho-hum, boring. A fairly standard UK bitter with no flash or flare. I am sure off the tap with would be a nice beer to drink with spicey food. As for sitting back and sipping, not to much write about. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Red amber and draped with lace. Wafts with robust hopcone sweatiness, chalk and toffee. Demerara really apparent now I’ve read the bottle, but kept in check with a big, ripe, orange-accented dose of hops. Silky, slatey, slightly floral. No-nonsense hop bitterness smoothed out with creamy, faintly chocolatey malt. Aftertaste is digestive biscuit caramel sweetness with a scatter of oats. Balanced, aromatic, tasty ale. Earlier Rating: 3/22/2007 Total Score: 3.5 Slightly sulphurous, musty nose with hints of juicy hop, cut grass and bunnypiss (compliment). That slate-like, alkaline, chalky-maltly smoothness I associate with Sam Smith’s. Punchy hop bitterness in the finish. Creamy, drawn-out biscuity afters. Pretty decent, and a very welcome antidote to Mongozo banana ’beer’. downender (2646), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 15, 2007 Bottle from Tesco’s ’Finest’ selection. Not quite golden, more in the line of copper really. Pours with a fluffy head that doesn’t stay long. Bready aroma, perhaps some dull citric notes. Dry and thin on the palate with a bitter citrus quality. Lacking in depth and refinement. A nice beer. fonefan (11890), VestJylland, Denmark

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 2, 2007 Black Sheep is a good brewery, and this didn’t disappoint - a clear copper pour with good white head, aroma of malt and dried fruit. Flavour has a good balance of malts and spicy hops, smooth mouthfeel, finish bittersweet and lingering. Quaffable. Maria (6336), Thisted, Denmark
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 2, 2007 It’s a dark golden beer with a nice head and the aroma holds notes of roasted malt and aroma hops. I find the same in the flavour, that has a nice citrussy bitterness. A nice ale.
