An unassuming beer; sampled from the bottle on holiday. The aroma is fruity malt. The appearance is copper with thin carbonation and lacing. The taste starts off with fruit (berry-ish) then presents a not-long-lasting hop bitterness. Palate is on the thin side. Not bad.

Cloudy golden with a medium white off white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and floral hops. Flavour was quite hoppy with malty and lemons notes. Finished bitter.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and sulphur, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

50 cL bottle as Tesco Finest Golden Ale. Pours cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity and slight yeasty. Fruity, light ashtray-ish touch. Bitter and dry flavoured. Bitter and dry finish, light lingering citric finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Comes as "Tesco Finest Golden Ale". Pours a slightly hazy golden with a white head. Typical skewed British hop aroma - God what a mess. Medium body, some lightly sweet fruit but also sulphur and a strange tang. Not bad - just British. Dry, hoppy finish. 111009

(Cask at City Arms, Manchester, 22 July 2009) Golden amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity nose with citrus, apricots, biscuits and dusty hops. Fruity taste with notes of orange, apricots and citrussy hops in the finish. Rather light body, some malt sweetness lingers throughout. Refreshing and tasty.

Lord Crewe Hotel, Blanchland, Co Durham. Supped in the Crypt bar, this was actually better than anticipated. A nice looking gold colour with a medium white head. Some malt and hop evident in the aroma which was fairly restrained. Solid malt backbone to the flavour which was clean and fresh and had some nice citrus notes leading to a dry slightly bitter finish.
