Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a slowly collapsing bubbly white head. Vague aroma of some hops and a mild malt almost mouldy note. Flavour is mainly bitter hops with a very minor fruity note. Light sweetness before the finish followed by a dry and bitter finish.

16.9 ounce bottle. Well, the joke is indeed on me. I assumed that this would be a great ale, but it is actually rather bland. I am sure the members of Monty Python’s Flying Circus are laughing all the way to the bank. The appearance is average. The body is honey colored. The frothy head is enormous and white, but it dissipates quickly. The nose is the best part of the ale. There is a light aroma of hay, as well as various fruits—fruity hops, apple, pear, and raspberry. The flavor doesn’t quite match the aroma. There is a taste of grass and a taste of malts, but those are both faint. Otherwise, there is not much flavor. Ni!

500 ml bottle. Amber pour with a quickly disappearing big white head. Sweet aroma of honey, fruits and malts, with a little hops. Malty flavour with moderate hoppy bitterness and a little unpleasant metallic note.

Clear brown pour with no head. Light malt aroma, a touch of smoke, light sourness. Sweet, uncomplex and boring.

Pours with a large, rocky, off-white head covering a deep golden body. Aroma of rotten fruit, honey and wheat. Sweet taste and then something that tastes like a wet dog smells. Then there is some banana and metal. Fizzy.

Tasted 2008-04-24. Pours clear, amber with an off white head. Aroma: Slightly hoppy, peaches, a little breadish Flavour: salty and a little bitter. Kinda thin. OK beer!

This beer was kind of plain. I would not refer to it as a holy ale, because I would not risk my life for this one.

Funny bottle. nice hops, there’snever too much though. I wouldn’t say it’s a bitter, more like a typical english ale with a bit more hops.
