Looks like an average pour, but the head is yeasty and malty and floats on top of the brew like a slowly melting scoop of ice cream. Some decent heartyness and a half-way decent bitterness on the aftertaste. Not great, but good. A very drinkable ale. Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 4, 2008 Blah. That is about it. Blah. Not much of an aroma there at all. Picking up some fruit smells but very faintly, kind of. Head n left pretty quickly and the taste was watery, no hoppy. Sorry, I want the best for something with such a classic name. It was drinkable if hanging out with the friends but not worth the $3.50 a pint at a store. Chapel (330), Levittown, New York, USA

I certainly don’t think it tastes anything like other ESBs I have had, but I don’t know what other style it fits into. I would say Pale lager if it was a lager. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Bought this one since I’m such a huge Monty Python fan. Nice aroma , good head. Alcohol content had me soaring like an unladen African Swallow carrying a coconut. Not for empty headed wipers of other people’s bottoms. Ni !!!!!!!! mctous (119), Herndon, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Holy Ale smells, pours, and tastes like a typical session bitter without quite achieving greatness. Although pasteurized it leaves a lot of dead yeast residue, so drinker beware! The malt aroma and flavor are quite clean, the residual sugar and yeast do not intrude too much, and the hops are cleanly extracted at about the right level. Competent but not quite excellent. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 23, 2008 Fairly bland. I was hoping for a beer that would put one in mind of burning witches and shrubbers named Roger. Not a bad little ale (or ail), just not memorable. IlanMan (847), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Poured medium golden with aroma of spice and hop. Tasted real smooth and dry with some citrusy hop and a smooth finish. Probably not worth the price to buy again but if someone gave it to me, I’d probably drink it. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 10, 2008 Bottle: Copper color, light head and nice lacing. The nose is dry and malty with a bit of noble hops and balanced caramel. The flavor is dry and earthy with more sweet caramel and light hop bitterness. Balanced english ale without all of the dust and a more pronounced hoppy character. Decent.
