Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

The first time I saw this beer was a few years ago, a beerchronic had brought one back from the states for his own collection and being the selfish bastard that he is only brought me back 5 free beers Monty Pythons Holy Grail not being one of them. And i wanted that one bad for the sole reason of it having a kewl name/lable. After many years i spotted it here in the great white north of Canada, and with great excitement and a girlish squeal let out in the beer cooler i picked up. I’m not sure if it was the very long and excited wait or the fact this was really not all that good of a beer but wholly shyte was i disappointed. The first thing i noticed about this beer was the very low carbonation and the lack of head along with this it had the mouth feel of a glass of warm water. There was very little in the way of taste, and what taste there was lingered on your tung for a long while getting more bitter every minet I will say the limited flavor it had wasn’t all that bad it was just hard to find. To me this wasn’t a waste of money because I’ll have a new kewl bottle for the collection but if i had bought just the bottle with out the beer in it i would not have been disappointed. So in conclusion bottle = awesome, beer = brown water.

Truly only a gimmick beer. Pours clear amber with a soapy off-white head. The aroma has lightly toasted malt, no hops and some diacetyl. Medium / light smooth body with light carbonation. The flavor is like the aroma with some phenolic spice. No really offensive, but nothing I’d ever get again.

Pours a clear amber with a lasting white head, some light lacing. Aroma of sweet, bready malt and little else. Flavor is sweet and mild. Mouthfeel was dense at first, with a dry finish, then became sugary. Very drinkable, but not that great.

Bottle. Pours medium amber with a half finger fizzy off white head. The nose is malt and floral hops. The taste is malt, grain and light bitter hops in the finish. Medium, fairly flat mouthfeel. Not that great.

Bottle. Poured a dark yellow color with a decent white head. Aroma was mostly yeast and bread. Flavor was kind of sweet and caramel. Decent beer. Not worth the price.
