Bottle on 4/15/2008. Deep amber brown with a medium rocky tan head and some sticky lace. Caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts and a dark fruitiness waft up from the glass, an inviting beginning. Smooth medium body with a complementary light effervescence, and a soft dry palate combine for a nice mouthfeel. Flavors of burnt sugar and spicy hops balance well. There’s a sharp bitterness at the finish, but not at all objectionable.

I wasn’t expect much of this, but was a belter. Quite hoppy and bitter - some sweetness and a bit nutty. Very drinkable.

Pours a lovely colour, Very dark red. It smells nutty, then bready. It’s malty, evidently alcoholic, It tastes of roast malt and barley, creamy, a dark berry fruit note. I imagine id love this on cask.

Bottle. High creamy and lasting off-white head. Clear dark brown body. Pretty complex aroma of berries cocoa hops and alcohol plus roasted malt. Relatively hoppy berries flavor in combination with roasted malt. Low carbonation. Short aftertaste.

Bottle, courtesy Tony at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours a dark ruby red, with a soapy fluffy head. Caramel aroma, licorice, big malt. Big caramel flavors, toffee, maple syrup, and a nice lingering licorice bite. Again, caramel in the aftertaste. Good finish. Bitter, smooth-bodied. Enjoyable.

aroma of malts and bananas. brown body with some carbonation w/ a small light brown head. taste of malts ,roasted nuts, a bit of coffee and yeast. palate is the only thing that bugs me about it as it is a bit hoppy on the finish. this is a good winter beer. ...on a side note, let this one warm up a bit before drinking. Much better as it gets warmer.
