Very sweet initially, followed by a very sweet dry chocolate finish. Very smooth and finishes exceptionally. Great lacing. The chocolate finish is delayed on my palate almost perfectly. One of the few beers I find myself savoring and being disappointed when the bottle is empty. Highly recommended. Wulfstan (509), California, USA

It is very dark red brown with a big, thick, dense tan head and some lacing. The aroma is rich, toasty caramelly malt. The taste is a little earthy, chocolaty, caramelly malt, coffee, all mild, and toasty (not burnt), and some flowery, bitter hop character. It is smooth with a sweet and bitter finish. It’s lively, complex, smooth, and tasty. timfoolery (484), California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Poured Amber with amazing head. This one was a little too carbinated, which I don’t normally like. It had a good flavor to it though. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 16, 2007 Poured an amber color with a good sized head. Would have gotten higher marks but, little too much carbonation for my taste. Just a little bitter during the aftertaste. schuimkroaat (395), Leuven, Belgium

Nose of bitter chocolate with nuts and coffee liqueur. Roasted malts dominate the taste but there is also some hop bitterness. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Light tartness, succulent body. puboflyons (622), New Hampshire, USA
