Creamy taste of toffee, butter and malt with a touch of fruity sourness. Dry finish of raisins, almost like a drier trappist. downender (2632), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England

Big head, was expecting a Young’s Special London color, but it was much darker. Sweet aroma- cherries? Flavor was complex- it was a combo of a scottish smokiness, some hops of a bitter, and the chocolate of a porter. Really unique- had it with some smoked oysters- made my Fiday night. mcnally (114), Burbank, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Pours dark copper-black with a thick foamy head; almost like a stout, except strangely clear. Apples, caramel and raisins in the scent. Flavor is more herbal than fruity. Oregano, hops, and perhaps a hint of cherry. Very soft mouthfeel, especially on the lips. Kinda buttery, and not so much oily. Rather enjoyable overall. haukur (684), Reykjavik, Iceland
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 2, 2007 very decent, incredibly biscuity, malty and bitter. Some raisins and nuts, some wheat. Very tasty and decent but something a bit out of the norm. Very interesting nonetheless mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2007 Pours a medium-dark copper-brown with a thick head and great lacing. Nearly unnoticeable aroma - slightly fresh and sweet but too subtle. Flavour is enticing - biscuity, dark and lightly toasted, buttery and with a balanced sweetness & bitterness. Hops are there but they don’t follow through to the finish, which is brief and dry and slightly spicy (think Chinese 5-spice). Body is creamy and well carbonated. This is not an exceptional beer, but it is certainly a drinkable one. Would go very well with fish & chips. pforei (338), USA
