Solid white head, body is clear copper. Aroma is dry, metallic, with hints of hops. Taste is all malt. Toasted, buttery, nutty, and alcoholic. Finish is bitter and tastes a little unfermented. Tastes stronger than it is.

(Bottled) Deep, dark ruby red color with a medium, lacy and lasting, tanned head. Roasty, almost burned-malty, slightly wineous and oaky, licoricey coffee aroma with caramely toffee hints. Burned and roasty like a porter, yet wineous and oaky, and with a quite bitter, dry finish - very interesting and complex. Long, bitter and burned aftertaste. Medium-bodied, soft-carbonated, bitter and roasty palate. Surprisingly complex, balanced and enjoyable, without being too heavy. No signs of alcohol here. Excellent brew, especially for an English one (the best English brew I’ve had so far)! I only wish they imported this to Finland, too...

Bottle from Peace St. Market, Raleigh. Pours deep copper/ruby with medium ecru head. Aroma of dark fruit, including figs, plus scotch, cabernet, oak. Tastes like the little brother of Weyerbacher Insanity with some hops, oak, caramel malt, cabernet. Very nice.

Dark ruby with a big creamy expresso head. Aroma has brandy, fruits, oak and hops. Medium-bodied. Woody flavor with a good malt profile. Hops are quite dazzling. Bitter, alcoholic aftertaste.

Bottle. Various roasty aromas - coffee, chocolate and liquorice - with fruit and earthy hops. Well balanced tending towards the unexciting (rather than refined subtlety) perhaps as a result of pasteurisation.
