A beer which initially can seem a bit odd...with a burnt, sometimes coarse taste. However, together with a good meal, its flavours turn out to be very tasty. A pleasant beer, suitable for meat dishes.

Darl chocolate brown with good clarity. Stout like nose, some burnt malty notes with a slightly hard edge. Quite light bodied in the mouth, seems like a true cross between a stout and an ale. Very nice feel although the malt does drop off a little. Just lacks a bit of excitement.

Dark garnet with a sticky off-white head. Sweet malt and toffee, treacle, and coffee in the nose. The body is also a little sweet, but this is rounded out nicely by a good bitterness in the finish. It has mouth-filling flavours of toffee, coffee and toasted malt.

Pours a rich red color, with a decent head and good lacing. Aroma is very wine-like, sweet malts, dark fruit, and a tad nutty. Flavor is sweet, slightly tart, nutty, grassy, then ends with a porter-ish note. Dry finish. Pretty good stuff.

Treacle-coloured ale that poured with a good, lingering 2cm head. Fantastic nose: treacle, toasted malt, dark chocolate, Victory Vs! Full-bodied and creamy with a deep, tarry bitterness. Some chewy toffee-like notes. Almost stout-like but skinnier. Characteristic Irish stout style bitterness in the finish. And it gets better with each glass! (bottle)

bottle. dark dark rugby colored, white head laced very well. Semi sweet roasted malt with a nice hop balance. A really nice example of an English style ale.
