(500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). Beautiful dark reddish brown colour, large head. Fine aroma of oak, toffee, dark chocolate and Colombian coffee beans. Full malty flavour with a little alcoholic bite, but not too much. Roasted notes, hints of English liquorice, bitter dark chocolate and smoke. The long aftertaste has strong black coffee notes with a hoppy bite. This is a first class beer! You’ll need more than one to make you a "ryggvelter", though. Baaah!

Pours a muddied brown with a small tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, caramel, and faint fruits. Taste is nicely smoked with more coffee notes and roasted malt. The caramel and sweeter tones seem to be in the background. Mouthfeel is a bit smoky and dry while retaining and mild carbonation feel to it. Finish is more smoked than expected and finishes very sharply and dry with more coffee. Pretty good beer!

I took it fresh out of the fridge - a little too cold - but i was thirsty. Natrually it didn’t have as much flavor then so i also waited - probably too long, because my kid needed food - and it turned out completely different. It went from almost fruity (cold) to caramel and toffee (warm). Nice beer.

Deep auburn. Nose just amazing as it’s poured, loads and loads of chewy toffee with a nice chocolate backbone. Flavor doesn’t live up to the promise, some toffee and chocolate but not particularly full or rich. Finishes a hoppier than expected.

Dark brown color, spicy fruity aroma and taste, medium body, dry malty finish.

Color is dark brown, almost black, and the head is thick, tall, lush, and creamy. Aroma is soft, sweet, buttery, with hints of butterscotch, toffee, cinnamon, cocoa. The labeling and name give little clue about this beer. "Yorkshire Ale"? It tastes like a brown ale, but I look above and see that the site designates it as a porter. Maybe it’s a bit of both. Taste is good, malt feels dominant, flavor is full, rich, delicious. Good texture and body, wholly satisfactory. I liked this beer, in a generous 16.9oz. serving, all the way down. One of the best brown ales, I’ve had in a while, and a delightful surprise.

Rich creamy lid, dissipating to a film after walking to my favorite chair. Translucent dark amber fluid. Nose of grape esters, dark roast coffee and warm alcohol. Sting of acid and fruit esters form the introduction. Transient tones of red wine, grape, roast and hops as a subtle finale. Mouth feel a tad light for my liking. I can’t compare the "Black Sheep" to any brews in my repertoire. Not a bad status.

Very dark brown with hints of purple. Aromas are bread, banana, spice and some chocolate. Flavours are fruit and choclolate, quite vineous and malty. Rich with a roast malts dry finish. Nice and smooth on the palate. One of my favourite UK bottled beers.
