DrBayern (880), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Apr 21, 2008 Bottle on 4/15/2008. Deep amber brown with a medium rocky tan head and some sticky lace. Caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts and a dark fruitiness waft up from the glass, an inviting beginning. Smooth medium body with a complementary light effervescence, and a soft dry palate combine for a nice mouthfeel. Flavors of burnt sugar and spicy hops balance well. There’s a sharp bitterness at the finish, but not at all objectionable.
note666 (155), Eindhoven, Netherlands Jul 13, 2008 500 ml bottle. brown ruby colour. taste is like roasted coffee. fruit is not really notisable. fredandboboflo (277), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottle. Roasted/toasted aroma, dark fruits, even those are toasted. Flavor the same, gets a bit dull. Mouthfeel rather thin, especially for the roasted character presented. Ok. Maltybones (48), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Jul 12, 2008 Deep red-brown appearance with medium carbonation and a thick, long-lasting head worthy of a stout. Aroma is pleasing, with bready malts followed by lots of toffee, floral hops and even a little lemon. Taste is in excellent balance, with lightly roasted malts mixing with assertive hops and pepper notes. Full, creamy, extremely smooth mouthfeel. Nice.
