Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
"Beers for bottling are drawn from brewery conditioning tanks and transported by road tanker to our bottlers. There they are chilled, stored for ten days, then filtered and bottled. At the end of the bottling process, the bottles are pasteurised, labelled and packed."
"With it's distinctive roast malt, Golding hops and banana fruit aromas, Riggwelter has a strong and refreshingly dry finish of hops and roasted barley malt."

Nice chestnut red-brown, poured a massive foamy tan head which faded slowly to a skim and 2 fingers of lace. Aromas of butterscotch, apple, banana, brown sugar, raisins, citrus and coffee. Taste was fruity and sweet, with notes of butterscotch, treacle, raisins and dark roast malt. Big Golding hop bitterness -- lingers blythely on the tongue and quietly departs. Good mouthfeel -- starts heavy but leaves no pasty feel behind. Nice moderate carbonation and modestly high ABV gave good "have another" drinkability. I enjoyed this good strong example of an EBA.

An excellent old ale, this reminds me of a lighter, more lively and flowery Old Peculier or a lighter, complex porter. It is very dark red brown with a big, thick, dense tan head and some lacing. The aroma is rich, toasty caramelly malt. The taste is a little earthy, chocolaty, caramelly malt, coffee, all mild, and toasty (not burnt), and some flowery, bitter hop character. It is smooth with a sweet and bitter finish. It’s lively, complex, smooth, and tasty.

A fine strong ale. The aroma is simply stunning - malt, hops, nutty and a hint of coffee. Pours a deep reddish brown with a tan head. Lovely flavours - again, the malt and hops shine through, with subtle background tastes (coffee, nutty). Smooth on the palate with lingering tastes. Overall, a fine nutty brown elixir. Serve at or slightly below room temperature.

I love this beer! Earthy, spicy. Little creamy, little sweet.

Exceptional nose of bubblegum & figs, some sulpher at first, wheat, raisins, fruit & flowers. A whole lot goin’ on here. The brew pous a sparkling ruby with copper highlights. The majestic cascade resolves into a massive off-white, tight & creamy head that is fully lasting and leaves great lace. The brew has a floral front, a sweet middle, and a finish that is big on raisins and coffee. In a word; WOW! The full body is creamy and soft. The finish feels dry. This beer perfectly illustrates why I would never return home if I ventured to the U.K.!!
