Commercial Description:
We begin with a custom mixture of dark and roasted barley malts, then we add the choicest hops. The resulting ale has a dark chestnut color and a deep nutty flavor. Brewed specially for Trader Joe's.

TJ’s - Pleasant beer, unbeatable price. It has an aroma, beery, hint of coffee. Whiteish head, dark translucent reddish brown. On the bitter side of the curve, though not extreme; coffee and carmel notes. Sits lightly in the mouth HAving a party... stock up

Bottled, consumed on 01/16/08. Pours a deep clear brown with even darker highlights. One finger head formed and dissipated rapidly. Aroma is sweet malt and nuts. Mouthfeel is smooth and a little thick. Flavor is woody/nutty with some sweet caramel notes. Some bitter coffee/chocolate present as well. Minimal astringency on center of tongue. Finishes clean with very thin bitterness. Not bad at all.

12oz bottle. Very dark brown with a medium beige head. Nutty and roasty aroma. Roasty and rich aroma is very porterish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Pretty full and roasty for a brown, or a pretty smooth porter... either way, its pretty nice.

Bottle. Mahogany with a thin tan head. Sweet, nutty and roasted malt aromas similar to a sweet stout. Aroma is rather faint. Flavors are similar, not much roasted malt flavor, but definitely nutty and sweet with a little "I’m drinking an amber ale while smoking a maduro cigar" quality. Actually, it reminds me of the current version of Goose Island Nut Brown- isn’t that odd?

Poured an average brown with a one finger creamy brown head. The aroma was sweet, malty, had some roasted grain, and a little bit of a corn taste. The flavor was sweet, a little crisp hop, malty, a little thin. The palate was thin and it had little of a finish.

Barely any head, dark, slight red tinge. Smokey, espresso flavour and sweeter than I expected. Not bad but not great by any means.

350 ml bottle from TJs. Dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Aroma of roasted barley and grain. Cereal and oat taste with a roasty finish.
