Pours a deep dark brown, appears black at first with very light tan head. Aroma is roasty, of chocolate and cocoa, maybe a hint of coffee, coming off kind of sweet. Flavor is cocoa and roasted malt, some nuttiness, some faint coffee notes. Not much else, the body fades to a thin medium carbonated thinness towards the end. Finish leaves some faint roastiness and chocolate, sweet but not too much. Not bad, better than I expected I guess. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is roasty and has some coffee and chocolate in there. Flavor is a bit bland, but roasty malts and a coffee undertones make it drinkable. Not bad, not too exciting either. naivepegasus (193), USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2007 Pours a dark brown with a medium tan head. Caramel and Chocolate dominate the aroma. Sweet malts and chocolate taste is complimented with a hint of coffee undertones, though the taste is pretty light. This beer is remarkably similar to the GI Stockyard stout, only a little smoother and a little sweeter, and with a little less flavor. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 1, 2007 Bottle... Poured deep black with red highlights and a thin head. Toffee/caramel-nut aroma. Nice barley-malt appearance in the flavor, buttery toffee flavors and a dab of hops. This was a nice surprise and I enjoyed this beer. Speedle (262), Mid-Atlantic (Tour 2007-2008), Virginia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 17, 2007 Delicious cocoa and roasted malt aroma. Dark mahogany hue with thin dark tan ring of head around surface of ale. Slightly hoppier flavor that I was expecting...something of a smoked flavor too. Not quite as creamy as I was expecting from the aroma. A style I quite enjoy, I can’t help but love ths one. Icommonsewer (122), TUCSON, Arizona, USA
