| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 5, 2007 Dark brown appearance with red highlights. Average size beige head; moderate lacing. Earthy, chocolate malt aroma, some nuttiness, with hints of dark fruit. Smooth, medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel. Caramel malts impart some initial sweetness to the flavor followed by bittersweet choclate and a light touch of hops. Great value. thegreenrooster (1846), St.louis, Missouri, USA

Aroma is very small, some roasty malts but not much else. Flavor is again pretty weak. Some malts but again not much else. Cheap but nothing great. GreatLibations (1454), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 2, 2007 Pours dark mahogany brown w/ a shallow, semi creamy, spattered froth. Froth settles to full lacing w/ dusty canopy. Aromas of roasted cocoa and malts. Smells like chocolate ice cream. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. A nice roated character offset by a moderate malt componant. Flavors of cocoa, roasted coffee bean, caramel malts, and slight cigar. This would go well w/ a cigar. Finish is nicely bittered. Overall: delicious and mellow malted cocoa. Well done. Highly recommended. WeeHeavySD (3041), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Pours deep blackish brown with a very thin white head. Aroma is fresh, clean and malty but not so deep. The taste is rich and malty with a nice punch. Tastes nice and rich, and malty, not quite a brown not quite something else. Kinz (2215), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 26, 2006 Thanks to Paul for this one! Couldn’t find the Goose Island name anywhere on the bottle, but I figured from Chicago it almost had to be them. Sure enough, GI. Coffee appearance, slight head fades totally. Aroma of roast coffee and chocolate. Flavor was quite rich, with dark chocolate and coffee mixed together, with a hazelnut finish. Really quite outstanding, sort of a cross between a brown ale and a porter. dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Not much aroma. This is one nice dark beer, and if this actually qualifies as a brown ale, then it is one of my favorites per style. Not too over the top in any way, just a tasty filling beer. hopdog (5617), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
