Not a bad beer, especially for $5.99 for a sixer. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, and roasted malt. Finishes slight sweet. Some chocolate in the flavor as well, better than I expected. mike67 (81), , New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2009 12oz bottle purchased at Trader Joe’s. Pours dark brown with a tanned long lasting foamy head. The aroma of dark fruit, raisins, roasted malt with hints of floral hops. The flavor was sweet dark fruit and caramel malt in the beginning followed by light coffee and dark chocolate notes. Finish is short and on a sweet side. I did not expect much but was pleasantly surprised. For this price I will definitely buy it again. IndianaRed (1559), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2009 Bottle pours a clear deep dark brown, with a small short lived light tan head. Light roasted aromas slightly of coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Light bodied and a slightly smokey flavor. Very low bitterness and soft carbonation.
Dark for a brown ale, but mild like one.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown body with ruby highlights. Short off-white fizzy head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of roasted and burnt malts, caramel, cherry, fruit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Very close to a porter or stout because of the roasty aroma and flavor but it also displays some nuttiness akin to a brown ale. Easy drinking. jbuzz (661), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice black-brown with a finger and a half of quickly dissolving off-white head. Aroma so faintly of nuts and malt as to be non-existent. Flavor is equally faint. Almost nothing there. Not sure what’s going on with this. Subsequent tastes reveal more dark sweetness and roasty flavor that is actually pretty pleasant. Carbonation keeps it interesting, but still, nothing truly noteworthy here.
