Jul 16, 2006 A dark brown body with ruby highlights. The head was sligtly khaki. The aroma had smells of walnuts and old caramel candies. The taste was some nice almonds with some warming alcohol, almost like Amaretto. The taste also had a little bit of milk chocolate in the finish. A decent brown but, normal for the style, it is boring.

Jul 16, 2006 12oz bottle from Trader Joes - Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head that stays pretty well and laces the glass some. Aromas of light caramel, roasted malts, and even a little brown sugar. Flavor is quite roasty with hints of smoke, tobacco, but also some sweetness with caramel, and nuts. Smooth airy palate makes it quite drinkable.

Jul 1, 2006 Brown colour with no head, thin almost non-exsitent body, dry finish with little flavour outside soem roasted brown malts. I honestly ended up pouring it out.

Jun 7, 2006 this had a good head.Color dark brown.Aroma was an appealing malt.Taste was a bit sour,due to the heavy malt content.It’s a decent beer,but I have had better stouts.Thanks Trader Joes.

May 29, 2006 This beer is dark red, almost brownish, with a small white head. While the flavor is mostly just very watery (this was the weak point of the beer), its got some roasty and nutty flavours that are pretty nice and I enjoyed, along with some malt. Overall I wish there was more going on, the flavours were very simple and also not strong enough, but its a highly drinkable beer, and the price is definitely right.

May 29, 2006 Pours a light black brown, in line more with a porter than a brown ale, but hey, who cares what style a beer is if it tastes good... not to say this one does or doesn’t. Minimal, though present head. The aroma is weak, like a watery stout, a bit of roast, but mostly empty, with something like pool water presence. The mouthfeel was a little below average, with high fizziness and wateriness on top of not being creamy or mouthfilling. The flavors were the strong point. Robust roast, without much sweetness, though there was a certain light malt flavor. There was also a floral hop note to this one. The flavor was again however, weak. At $4.50 for a sixer, how the hell can I complain?
