Commercial Description:
We begin with a custom mixture of dark and roasted barley malts, then we add the choicest hops. The resulting ale has a dark chestnut color and a deep nutty flavor. Brewed specially for Trader Joe's.

I’m surprised at how good this is. Big mocha aroma and flavor. After taste was lingering nuttiness. This is a pretty great beer. I thought it was a stout.

bias compelled me to look for reasons not to like this beer. it’s reasonable though. i don’t get how $7 for a 6-pack is that good though. i’ve seen bells, SN, great lakes, for that price. this was quite dark but also pretty light-bodied. i didn’t detect these nutty flavors, but i was approaching it as a sweet stout. and i wasn’t being particularly critical since i thought it was just a throwaway beer. chocolate was definitely in the mouth. good balance.

A good brown ale. Very dark. Creamy and delicious. And brewed for Trader Joes which means it was cheap. They are good. Really GOOD.

Dark black brownish with a creamy head. Has a great aroma of carmel and brown sugar. Light to medium body with some smooth flavors. Has almost too much sweetness to be a black beer wish it was toned down. I liked the beer.

Very dark brown with small slightly tan head. Very roasty, caramelly, chocolatey aroma with some nuttiness. Flavor is about the same with surprisingly big nutty, chocolate background, with sweet caramel and pleasant roastiness and nicely bittersweet palate. Another good deal from Trader Joes.

12 oz bottle-mahogony with a fizzy off-white head. aroma of nuts, toasted malts, tobacco, lightly smokey. This doesnt smell like the regular brown ale that GI puts out. flavors are roasty for the style-some nice chocolate and toasted nuts as well. body holds up well for the style-lush and full. finish is somewhat weak-chocolate and some toasted grains (wheat bread). not a bad brown ale.

12oz bottle. Dark and deep brown hue with a slight red hint. Bone white head. Toasty, nutty, malt aroma. Sweet, spicy fruit notes as well. Great aroma with a vanilla raisin malt smoothness. Lively and medium palate. Rich and smooth coffee notes. Short lived sweet caramel flavor. Fruity berry notes. Finish is mildly dry with tingling carbonation. Good malt note. Cola like with a sweet finish. I really enjoied this brew and was pleasantly surprised!

Purchased at St. Louis Trader Joe’s. Pour very dark brown with a crimson red tint. Nice looking tannish off-white head, but it goes away quickly. Burnt malt aroma that reminds me of nuts and dark chocolate. Medium body with light carbonation. Very roasted / burnt malt taste - charred grains and chocolate. Overall not bad at all. The finish has the burnt aspects along with some sharp hops. At the discount price this sells for it is a very good deal. It is one of the heartiest and most aggresive brown ales I’ve had.
