Jan 15, 2006 This is alot like a really full bodied nut brown. some dark roastiness, some chocolate, honey roasted peanuts, hazelnuts, and just the slightest hint of coffee and molasses. Some bready fruit flavors are more present at it warms up. A interesting little beer.

Dec 18, 2005 Bottle. Brackish deep brown. Nose is roasty and sweet and smells similar to Bit-O-Honey mixed with caramel. Taste is semi-sweet and has mild roastiness with caramel. Dark fruits, roasted malts, light coffee, roasted nuts, and a bit of molasses. Body is moderate and has some mild carbonation. Sometimes tingly. Finsihes with roasted malts and nuts, light coffee, molasses and cocoa. Not too bad at all.

Aug 18, 2005 A great TJ’s special. Dark nutty flavor, but not overpowering. with the name Black Toad, i was expected something dark and heavy, but this beer is actually very light and goes down smooth.

Aug 15, 2005 A good beer for the price(about $6-7 for a six pack). Taste actually grows on you the more you drink it. Dark taste and look to it, it is a good beer for parties. Most people who try it are pleasantly surprised.

Aug 5, 2005 This was a pleasant surprize. Expecting it to be a cheap knock-off (done by Goose Island for Trader Joe’s), I was expecting a watery American dark lager or some such. Instead, I was treated to a good session style of brown ale. It poured a clear, nutty brown with a wisp of a white head. The nose was quite fruity (plums & cherries) atop a rich, sweet malt aroma. Smooth to drink, it has that same fruitiness in the flavor, the malt becomes toffee-like, and it has just a touch of almonds. There’s only a very slight hop bitterness in the finish, but this ale stands up just fine as it was. <font size=-4><a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=1 RAYBOY01’s Fridge<font size=-1>
