Body is light. Nutty, chocolate, roasted malt, and some light roast coffee. Finish is a little soapy and has some co2 and roasted flavor lingering on the palate. Hops level is light. A pretty good brown actually. (Re-rate 1/15/09, from 2.8, I mistakenly rated based on it being a thin, disappointing porter, and I was probably already three sheets). Decent flavors...but somewhat thin all around. But, again, the TJ beers are very affordable, which is nice in a pinch, too. LtDan (512), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Pours dark and clear. Small head that dissipates a bit too rapidly. Sweet roasted and malty aroma. Medium texture. Pleasant sweet mildly burnt malt flavor. I would buy again. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Dark and smoky, but light enough that it wasn’t a beer that made me feel heavy. Much darker than a typical brown ale, but similar in body and mouthfeel. Black. Strykzone (1481), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2008 Almost black pour with a short lived head. Red highlights. Aroma is full of malt, nuts, milk, unmalted barley. The barley gives a sorghum molasses flavor. Faint hop presence. Lactic acid. Mild effervescence. Smokey. Medium bodied. Not bad at all. fidel (965), Livermore, California, USA
