Not a good brew. Way overcarbed, tastes a bit like raspberry cough syrup. Almost tastes like the grains were over spraged or old extract was used. Glad I only had a small taster glass.

Appearance: Lightly hazy, pale-hued, straw-colored body with a small-sized, white head. Smell: Though some slight malt accents are present, it’s essentially only the raspberry additive. Taste: Incredibly light malt base and then it’s off to the smooth, though light raspberry flavoring. The altogether mild carbonation allows this lackluster taste to just languish on the tongue. So, with the light malt profile and non-existent hops, all you have is this raspberry taste from start till merciful finish. Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Low carbonation. Drinkability: I’m very pleased Blackhorse’s issues with diacetyl ended here, as I wasn’t particularly looking forward to the idea of raspberry flavoring and diacetyl’s buttery off-flavor. Though, the beer still didn’t perform too well for me -- in that the predominate flavor present (raspberry flavoring, natch) was still rather mild and the carbonation was just missing, leaving the beer to come across as a flavored water, like something Dasani would put out on the market. Ah well, they can’t all be a New Glarus Raspberry Tart.

Hazy yellow, whitish head. Aroma is pale malt, sour note, spiciness like a hefe with a touch of raspberry syrup. Taste is again a light sourness, pale malt, the raspberry is really lost here.
