Commercial Description: "Dunkel" is German for dark, "Roggen" for rye. Brewed with 25% rye it’s a toffee-colored, medium-bodied ale with just enough chocolate malt to give it some light milk chocolate notes, but no roastiness in the mouthfeel. The rye contributes a spiciness to the aroma and flavor, and some dryness to the finish. Fermented with Bavarian Hefeweizen yeast, Dunkel Roggen has the banana/clove character common to that style. Noble Saaz hops round out the finish. (O.G. - 1.055 IBUs - 20)
