Commercial Description:
Our most popular brewmaster special brought back by overwhelming requests. A classic British nut brown ale. Full bodied, complex and interesting yet mild in flavor. Our interpretation of this style has distinctive hop aroma and flavor. (O.G.-1.052, IBUs 23)

Pours a really nice brown color with just hints of amber and a tan head. Aroma is nutty, caramel, a hint of chocolate, toast, roast, and some nice earthy hops. Flavor is malty, toasty, slightly nutty, biscuit, roasty, and a bitter earthy finish.

Source:10 oz glass on cask at the brewpub.
Glass:10 ounce pilsener glass.
Appearance:Poured a clear red color with a half finger of beige head.
Aroma:Aroma was caramel malt, nuts and a hint of earth.
Flavor:A hint of nuts with a toasted malt base and an earthy finish.
Palate:Medium body with cask carbonation.
Overall:I thought this was rather good. For the most part, Blackstone’s offerings are sub par, but this one was above average.

Sampled at Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition festival. Pours chestnut brown with a small tight tan head. The aroma is nutty with a bit of diacetyl, toasty malt and cream. Medium body with soft carbonation. The flavor is very nutty malt, some toast, cream and richness. The finish is a bit sharp. Overall a pretty good brown ale.

Dark copper pour, big fluffy head and lace. Metallic aroma. Very low carb, some sourness, some bitter artificial nuttiness. Finishes with an unpleasant soy sauce flavor. It’s a local…

Poured at brewpub. Brown with ruby tinge, some tan head. Caramel and nut aroma with the same taste. Taste also has some chocolate bitterness on the finish. Good creamy caramel texture.

2009 Tap at the Blackstone Brewery in Nashville. This nut brown ale was surprisingly complex. Very full-bodied, with hints of tartness and even raspberries. I felt like this led to an overall unbalanced and conflicting flavor. Caramel, nuts, and fruits dominate the beer. I found this interesting, but largely unappealing.

Poured a light tan head that laced a little with a clear amber body. Smells of caramel and lighly toasted malt. Tastes toasted with caramel. Some nuttiness on the finish.
