curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 7, 2009 Solid black pour with a creamy tan head. Roast malt aroma with nut and toffee. Creamy milky coffee taste. Decent finish. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Apr 5, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Dark black red tints and a beige head. Roasty dry aroma, chocolate and black malt. Tastes roasty astringent malt, some chocolate and a bitter finish. punkeedo (465), San Antonio, Texas, USA Mar 23, 2009 2009 Tap. A mediocre dry stout. Tastes more like a porter with a coffeeish bent, though its mouthfeel is very similar to Guinness. Looks very similar to Guinness and is worth a try, though I’m convinced the Irish do it better. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 15, 2009 16 oz on tap at the brewpub. Poured a pretty dark brown color with a two finger brown/tan head that hung around for the majority of the time it took me to drink it. The aroma was pretty muted, but small notes of roasted malt and maybe some bitter chocolate were present. The flavor was solid, with coffee and roasted malt dominating. The finish was rather bitter, but it seemed maybe not due to the hop content, but the roasting of the malt. The body was spot on, as was the carbonation. The mouthfeel was chewy and slick. Pretty decent Irish Stout. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Mar 13, 2009 Growler courtesy of Justin, thanks buddy! Very dark brown pour with chestnut highlights and thin tan head. Roasty. Some bitter chocolate. Decent enough. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA May 4, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Black in the glass with red highlights. Frothy tan head that leaves thick lacing down the glass. Subdue aroma of roasted malts. Coffee and malt flavor with a background that I argued with myself if it was roasty or smoked. It could go either way with each sip. Light body but smooth. (Rating from March ’08) Pwn3d (1036), Manhattan, New York, USA Mar 22, 2008 tap at the restaurant in nashville. Too thin for a stout, off taste, akward aftertaste.. but it grew on me. BBB63 (4192), La Porte, Indiana, USA Mar 18, 2008 Tap at brewpub: Deep brown with minimal head or lace. Weak aroma of coffee, chocolate, charred malt and barley, hint of tobacco. The taste starts with a twangy fruit and chocolate malt character with some smoke towards the finish. The finish tasted like dishwater and minerals. The mouth feel is thin and soft with a dry finish. This beer lacks depth on all fronts from the nose to the palate. Bad even for a paint by numbers dry stout... arggh!
