Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel and sweet. Medium bodied amber ale. Malts are caramel and sweet. Hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Good balance. It pretty much you BJCP standard brewpub amber. Totally to style, well made, but nothing special. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Long lasting off white thin head that leaves a good lacing. Nose is thin, rus copper, light hop taste. More sour hops and rust with hints of hop and alcohol. Good. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2006 On tap at the brewery. A golden amber pour I had the chance to try the tap and the cask side by side. The tap was a tad watery the cask was silky smooth. The tap was a bit over carbonated the cask had a very smooth mouthfeel. There was a bit more hop caracter in the cask than the tap as well. This is an experiment that I would recommend everyone try if you get the chance. I wish it had been on the brown ale or oatmeal stout instead of the amber but it was all good. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2006 Updated: Mar 12, 2008Draught @ brewer’s jam. Pours a clear amber with a decent white head. The aroma is a bit like an English bitter with slight musty scents, some caramel, hints of plastic, but some American hop qualities come out. This carries over into the flavor as well with notes of peat, burned caramel, and some piney, grapefruity notes as well. The finish is slightly papery, but not in a bad way. This would make a pretty good session drink.
[March 11, 2008] On tap at the brewpub
Well, this is definitely red in color. The aroma is almost nutty with hints of toffee and a modest grapefruit character. The palate is medium and lively. Toffee and biscuits are up front with a clean, defined, though weak, grapefruit finish. Red Springs is nice and floral for what it is: a noteworthy take on a mediocre style. ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 18, 2006 Draft at the brewery, August 2006. Clear dark copper and brown colored body. Nose is a nice woody cedar hop and marachino cherry mixture, with some sweet maple and some more "dusty" cedar scents. Peppery, decently bittter, with a proper sweetness thoughout to compliment. Light melon and marachino cherry flavors, with a crisp, tinny texture. Lively, rusty, overall it’s an OK beer, but nothing spectacular. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2006 Bottled sample from WBC2006. Pours a coppery amber with a diminishing, lacy off-white head supported by streams of carbonation. The aroma is fruit, malt and flowers with mangoes and oranges up front. Medium body. The taste is nuts, toffee and oranges with a dry, pine-bitter finish. A bit more assertively hopped than one would expect for the style, but I’m completely OK with that.
