| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 24, 2006 I had Blackthorn so many times in England...but wow, I never rated it until I picked up a bottle in Texas. There are shadows of what cider can be when you get to authentic, artisanal cider. But still, most of the qualities are overwhelmed by ugliness. Yellow and surprisingly still. Some tang in the mouth, still rather mellow, with only a bit of sugar sweetness. Neither as sweet or offensive or thin as many American ciders, yet still producing more of a sense of a malt liquor (corn flavors) than lambic. The best ciders of England jump at you like lambic. Sweet Ciders are terrible and people don’t drink very much of them. The Dry Ciders are the best, and Blackthorn " Rocket Fuel" is one of the bigger and better names. There are more and more Ciders on the market, but most are only available in the UK. nick76 (2676), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Jan 8, 2006 The aroma is sour apples and I mean sour. It’s almost a rancid sour to the point of vinegar. Thankfully there are some sweet apples in the aroma as well or I might not have taken the first sip. The appearance is like most ciders except the carbonation in this one is even lighter which gives it a super thin mouth feel. The flavor is acidic and sour (expected). It is also very alcoholic in taste and lacking the usual sweetness (unexpected). Also, I was not expecting the bitter aftertaste. This is not very good, and I’m finding it hard to finish. dwyerpg (2545), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

It tastes kind of like my first homebrew attempt, but only the bottles in which I put in too many carbonation drops. fiulijn (7420), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
