Blind Man ales was a very innovative brewery. I remember having a sample of their Brown Ale and it being so different from any other beer (although I don’t remember it enough to provide an entry for it here). On to the beer at hand: the espresso stout was available in Atlanta in 6-packs along with one or two other beers by blind man (btw, a new Athens, GA brewery called Terrapin has started relatively recently and they also have a beer that uses coffee from Jittery Joes). The beer had a very nice aroma of roasted/burnt malts and strong coffee. The beer poured black with a very dark head. The time I bought bottles from a grocery store, the bottles were a little over-carbonated - it would foam out of the bottle without even pouring it. After letting some of the CO2 gas out, the mouthfeel was pleasant and properly carbonated. The taste was big and bitter - coffee bitterness combined with unmalted roasted barley bitterness overpowered any bitterness provided by hops. But in a good way (if you like coffee stouts). It was a very memorable beer.

This is a small local brewery in Athens, GA. This is truly the best stout I have ever had, hands down. The coffee taste comes from actual turkish ground espresso grounds from a local coffee house called Jittery Joes. The aroma is captivating, what a mean scent it is. Columbus hops for bittering. WIth a mixture of roasted barley, black and two-row malts provides most of the beers dark dark appearance. A must for all, you can get this now I am told you can still find this is small batches, if you ever are in the south, you must try this!
