TAR (2088), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Jan 12, 2005 Draft: Beaming light copper. Sparse foam and wispy lace. Enticingly aromatic notes of mace, buttered just-cooked pumpkin, and glazed graham. Crackly carbonation and slick bodied. Vibrant, richly meaty pumpkin flavors. Ensuing hints of minty dryness, mace, and bready malt sweetness. Notably husky, although the malt remains mostly refined. Flashes of nutmeg continue to tease the palate before being doused with bready malt and a blanket of lush pumpkin textures. Dry, brightly spicy, minty finish displaces the overall sweetness. More malt would impart more body and kindle more of the lovely nuances. Very respectable seasonal. PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Nov 15, 2004 I’ve yet to be won over by the pumpkin beer trend, despite my love of pumpkin pie. That said, this is easily one of the best pumpkin beers I’ve had. Crystal clear light amber color. Candyish aroma dominated by cinnamon. The flavor is more integrated: pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, all the pumpkin pie spices blending together: it tastes just like the pie! Long finish. One of their more characterful offerings.
