TAR (2087), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Sep 25, 2004 cask-conditioned: Particle-littered peach. Creamy white foam. Hoppy aroma of dried apricot and orange peels. Soft, deepening pine and toasted malt scents with a hint of mango pit. Feathery soft bubbles. Thick body. Peach pulp and orange rind enhance the tight piney bitterness. Toasted malts struggle to penetrate the heavy citrus. Prickly bitterness supplies much-needed coarseness to the explosively juicy, citrusy hop elements. Center possesses a hint of crystallized ginger and candied lemon. Ends with a soggy, undefined hoppiness with a touch of leather and honeyed mint leaf. Strangely, the aroma resmbles [stale] hop pellets and thus comes off as being artificial. It also becomes rather sweet after only a few sips. Predictable, but tolerable in limited amounts.
