Oct 10, 2006 Draft... GABF ’06... Black ale (mostly clear, brilliant copper when held up to bright light) with a small, tight, beige head. Decent retention. The aroma is a vortex of quality French roast coffee and rich chocolate. Creamy, rich, chocolatey, coffee flavor. Light to medium-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lightly tangy, espresso finish.

Oct 12, 2004 Updated: Dec 15, 2007GABF 2004 & 2007: Nearly opaque with a thin off-white head. Mildly smokey coffee aroma has a subtle touch of roasted malt and sweet dark chocolate. Body has a fairly full sweetness and good slightly drier coffee notes, but could use a little more sweetness. Very smooth and drinkable.

May 24, 2004 Medium dark brown color, with a huge espresso nose, very powerful and rich... thick and smoky flavor of milk chocolate and coffee with a residual milk chocolate finish. Quite good.

Mar 28, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark brown with a khaki head. The coffee aroma was strong with a hint of chocolate. Fairly one dimensional smell. The taste was mild coffee with some dark chocolate. There were also some hints of tobacco. The mouthfeel was soft.
