drewbeerme (1895), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 17, 2008 on tap at GTMW ’08. pours clear golden with white head. nose is sweet and spicy. flavors are too sweet and this lacks a good hop character. not bad though. theisti (1180), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jun 16, 2008 4 oz Taster at the brewpub. Pour is golden with a nice white head. Aroma is sweet apple and bready maltiness. Taste is bitter sweet apples and the bready malt backbone. Grassy, earthy, some yeasty herbal clove to the finish. Nice beer. Gregis (937), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Sep 7, 2007 The menu says that this one won a gold medal in 2006, and it was one of the two best beers available during my visit 9/3/07. It pours a clear gold and was served with just a wisp of whitish head. Nice, sweet, bready malts are on the nose along with faint alcohol note (odd on a beer with this ABV, but not significant). Medium-bodied and slight with a light alcohol warmth at the end. Again I’d figure the ABV a bit higher, but it certainly doesn’t detract from the experience. The flavor is round, sweet, caramel and biscuity malts with just a trace of fruity hops to balance things out. Light alcohol and a faint bubble gum round out the flavor profile. This is very solid Maibock and made the visit worthwhile by itself. tjthresh (1350), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Jul 22, 2007 On tap at the brewpub
Golden with some white head. Good pilsner malt aroma with some herbal notes. Lightly sweet with a crisp bitterness. Medium body. Really nice. Sledge Jr (2721), Omaha, Nebraska, USA May 26, 2007 On tap at the Parkville Microbrew Festival. Pours gold in color with a medium white head. Lots of diacetyl in this one. Mild fruitiness otherwise. A boring beer. Too carbonated for the style. It just does not resemble a maibock in any way.
