TAR (2087), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Jan 9, 2005 cask-conditioned: Bronzed peach. Tight, cakey puff of various-sized bubbles. Vibrantly fresh floral hop nose with hints of mandarin orange, peach skin, and doughy malts. Negligible carbonation. Quite wet body. Savory profusion of boisterous orange pulp-accented hop flavors. Underlying toasted, slightly nutty malt sweetness supplies a sturdy backdrop to the soft hop immensity, which simultaneously holds the acidity at bay. Discernable 2-row malt flavor proceeds just before the striking medley of floral and citric hops resurge to round out the grapefruit rind astringency and grainy malt dryness. Insignificant hop burps follow suit as notes of honeysuckle linger. Solid aroma and flavor, but the condition of this particular cask, which was extremely fresh, was subpar.
