Blind Tiger Pious Monk Dubbel

On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark copper with barely any head. The aroma was sweet toffee with a hint of milk chocolate. There was also amaretto and cherries. The taste was bubblegum, toffee and tea. There was a decent roasted finish.

Rusty amber color; thin tan head. Rich sugary personality as one would expect, the alcohol is present but not overbearing. Drinkable. Very good.

Served in a standard shaker glass. Sweet, brown sugary aroma, spicy with banana bread notes, plenty of yeast esters to be found. Dark orange-amber color, clear, with a fine, slight head. Flavor is lightly bitter to start, gently spicy hops leading into a sweet, sugary, lightly bready body with a yeasty, fruity, lightly alcoholic finish, some orange peel detected? Smooth on the palate, medium-full body and very gently warming. Rendered in a similar style to other American Dubbels I’ve sampled previously, which are almost universally interesting but need just a little less prominent sweetness. Still worth a try, though, makes a good dessert choice especially.
