Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Sep 7, 2007 Probably the third best beer on tap during my visit on 9/3/07, and for a raspberry wheat, that’s usually saying something. Pours a clear light yellow and was served with zero head. The aroma features a nice subtle raspberry with a wheat backing. Unlike many fruit beers, especially raspberry, this one lacks the soapy extract aroma that many exhibit. Light to medium-bodied, slick and clean, this beer highlights nicely balanced raspberry and wheat malt notes. It could probably use a bit more carbonation, but otherwise it’s pretty darn good. I’m not sure if the brewmaster has changed the recipe or if I just hit a better batch, but I thought this one was quite a bit better than many of my predecessor’s ratings would indicate. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Mar 28, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. The body was light yellow and slightly hazy. The aroma was strong raspberry with some hay. The taste was strong black raspberries with little else. The carbonation was a little sharp. This was an ok fruit wheat, but the finish was a little mossy. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jul 30, 2006 This was served a bit too cold, but I am starting to wonder if any of this breweries lighter beers have any aromas at all. The raspberry flavors that are present here are almost out of season, coming across very sour, with a husky malt background this is almost difficult to drink, certainly not a pleasure, but than I expect nothing less from this style. henry3r (586), Wichita, Kansas, USA Oct 15, 2005 The tap poured a hazy, light yellow beverage with a small white head that was mostly lasting and left good lacing on the glass. The aroma was distinctly of raspberry as might be expected. The problem was that there were no other discernable aromas like malt or hops or yeast. The body was medium-light and very smooth with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. The flavor starts off as you might expect, moderately sweet with loads of raspberry. The finish is of average length and is also moderately sweet. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jun 12, 2005 Pale yellow with a musky/moldy berry aroma. The flavors are real mellow, like a light berry-flavored pancake syrup. OK, not great. PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Nov 15, 2004 Dull gold color. Very light, as expected. Intrusive raspberry character is almost bitter tasting in the finish. Husky. Didn’t want to finish it.
