Jan 19, 2009 Hazy copper pour with a fluffy white head and spotty lace. Hop aroma. Spicy flavor with a hint of hops. Flavor profile is dominated by nutmeg and clove.

Jan 18, 2009 bottle at the Flying Saucer in Charlotte NC. For me this one was bit unusual. First impression was that the beer had a nice brown sugar based malty backbone with some nice hops present. By the end the beer was less pleasing...the spices and the hops became more present (not sure why these [which are typically pleasant] did not do it for me in this one).

Dec 22, 2008 Not your run of the mill holiday beer, this one has a forward hop profile not unlike an IPA. Pours a dark brown with a solid off-white head and nice lacing. A bit of raisiny overtone creeps in alongside a resiny whack of aroma hops. Malty, but not sweet backing provides an excellent canvas upon which this beer paints a hoppy winter treat. Nutmeg plays a small part but is understated.

Dec 19, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark, cloudy red without real head retention. The nose is spiced with hints at cinnamon and clove. A slight Belgian feel is imparted here. Sweet fruits are also noted. The mouthfeel is medium. The flavor brings out more noticeable spices. It could be the work of esters, but these hints at nutmeg and cinnamon seem real. A fruity sweetness weaves in and out of the spiced notes and finally a semi-dry finish ensues. This really is not too bad at all.
