Commercial Description:
Amber Ale brewed with Wild Maine Blueberries.
An amber ale brewed with all natural ingredients, including real wild blueberries and wild blueberry juice from the State of Maine this beer has a light crisp body and subtle wild blueberry aroma and taste, but is not sweet like many fruit beers. These characteristics have made the beer popular with all age groups, especially young adults and make the beer a popular part of many beer cocktails and mixed beer drinks. For instance, many people enjoy the beer as a part of a “Black and Blue;” an alternative to a “Black and Tan".

Poured a copper color on the verge of orange with a one inch wispy head that disapated quickly. Not much of an aroma at all but what there is is vaguely like blueberry. Flavor is somewhat weak. There is a blueberry taste that seems somewhat artificial. While this beer is drinkable, I was hoping for something more. Not likely I’ll pick it up again. Thankfully, it was part of a mixed six so I don’t have to wonder what to do with the other five.

Aroma is tart, sour blueberries. Smells like a blueberry version of one of those kid’s candies that is supposed to be so sour your lips catch fire. Reddish/brown in color with a fluffy two finger thick tan head that is quite pretty. Fore, middle and finish are blueberry, water and a vaugely wheat/grain flavor. It’s really not bad it is just so incredibly narrow in range. It feels well made though and has a decent mouthfeel despite the somewhat watery flavor.

12 oz bottle dated 21 NOV 02, so take that into account. Pours a clear dark amber, almost no head. Reeks of cheap blueberry pie filling. Flavor is certainly blueberry, but not much else going on here. Develops a pretty bad taste after a few sips, hard to describe. Sticky finish.

Pours a dark amber color with off-white head which diminishes quickly leaving a heavy lacing. Aroma of bluberries and some citrus. Flavor has a breif but heavy blueberry flavor which evolves into a bland watery ale. Interesting idea, poor execution. I’m not sure even black beers would drink this.

An aroma of blueberries with hints of citrus drifting in. A dark amber color. Pours a thick head which fades rapidly leaving heavy lacing. After each drink this beer produces a mild head from an overwhelming amount of carbonation. The beer is introduced to the tongue with a hearty blueberry flavor. This taste sensation is short lived as the blueberry taste rapidly descends into a foul bitter taste.

It pours cloudy and thick and is quite ugly. The aroma is very blueberry and is quite appetizing. At first the blueberry taste is nice, a bit hard to get used to but nice. After about half of a bottle the blueberry starts to turn to dirty sock. I’m not sure what’s going on there but it’s not pleasant.

Pours a dark amber/light brown with a nice frothy head. Aroma is quite pleasant and dominated by blueberry, maybe a little caramel in the background. Something about the flavor doesn’t work for me. It is strange in that the blueberry flavor is a nice addition, but the malt flavoring doesn’t seem quite right for the fruit that it goes with. That said, it is much better than I would have guessed.

BluCreek Blueberry Ale has a slight blueberry aroma but no hint of malt or hops. The color is a golden brown and the appearance is hazy. No blueberry flavor is detected and there is some slight bitterness. The body is medium and the aftertaste is abrupt.
