drowland (1337), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 26, 2009 Have had this at the brewpub and on tap at an Old Chicago. I was not a fan of this beer either way. There is something about it that is just not right. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Apr 29, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. AbV was listed as 5.7%. 24.4 IBU’s. Poured a slightly hazy orange red color. Head was slender, off white, and left some tattered lace on the glass. The aroma wasn’t exactly a show stopper, consisting of only subdued husky grain and a hint of grape candy. Dry on the tongue. The flavors were more complex and appealing than the aromas. Ininitally I noticed some fig and light brown sugar. However, there was also subdued white frosting, a touch of biscuity malt, and a lingering malty caramel/toffee note. Crash (447), Macomb, Illinois, USA May 3, 2004 Redish in color with good head that stays around. There was good lacing also. There was a roasted smell. Taste was slighly hoppy with a shot of some grain. JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA May 2, 2004 Dark red-brown, hazy, with a large tan head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Very light hop aroma with a slight roastiness and a hint of berry sweetness. Flavor is quickly waning Cascade hoppiness that is not very strong or complex. Rye malt finish.
