Nicely roasty dark caramely sweet aroma has some slightly sweet lactose character. First sip is of nicely sweet dark malty flavor and lots of good fresh hoppy balance. Has a lingering earthy, bittersweet character with lots of good dark chocolate presence. A very nice dry stout. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA

After having the barrel aged dark lord, I was suprised that my palate wasnt a mess. This beer actually held up for what it was. this beer poured almost black with a small fizzy tan head. nice char, fresh cut wood, roast and anise in the nose. Flavors are mostly char and the woodsy notes. Body is full for the style but has the proper amount of carbonation for the style. A pretty good example of this style. I want to go back to Blue Cat sometime soon! barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

It replaced the Imperial Stout that had been on previously. It was served with a mix of nitro and CO2. More brewpubs need to get away from just nitro. The body was black with a light brown head. The aroma was sweet coffee with some dark chocolate. The taste also had the sweetened coffee and bitter chocolate. There an oaky dry finish with some bitterness. Nice.
