Sampler at the brewery. Pours a thin head over a clear dark copper (SRM 18) body.....nose is caramel and roasted malts, including toffee, coffee tones...taste is dominated by coffee tones, ending bitter, no nuttiness....mouth feel is light, carbonation medium. This is unbalanced with too much heavy roasted malt flavors. Tasting of 10/09/09.

On tap at the downtown location. Dark transparent beer with some bubbles. Roasted malt contributes a nutty flavor, hops are balanced and kept muted so the malt is the focal point for flavor.

Dark brown beer with nutty sweet nose. I really enjoyed the roasted malt and hazelnut flavor, whether or not that is what the brewer intended for me to taste. Very refreshing - it would be easy to drink a bucket of this beer.

Draught at Downtown location. Pours clear brown with an average, fizzy, light brown head, somewhat diminishing with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, nutty), light hops (herbs), average yeast (leather) with notes of brown sugar. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness and acidity, moderate bitterness.

Found my tasting notes from our Sept. 2000 Rt. 66 trip, at the suburban location. This is before I discovered beer rating sites, but I still wanted to note some impressions. Yes, my first beer notes. I have here that it was "excellent, just slightly fruity." Okay, not enough for BJCP qualification, but I wanted to give props for a place that I thought had good beer AND good food.
My rating will just be the 2.8 average score currently standing, and this is a placeholder for what I hope will be a return trip to the Land of Enchantment. Now if I can just find my notes on 4th Street SueBee Honey Ale I had before we went west.

Draught at the southern location. Beer is clear, medium amber brown. Head is small, off-white; diminishing but mostly lasting head.
The aroma is malty with light notes of toasted nuts, toasted grain; Hoppy with an herbal trace. Again, mostly odorless.
The flavor is lightly acidic, lightly/moderately bitter with a short, lightly acidic, lightly bitter finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is average.
A blank.

[GABF, Denver Co - 2006] A wonderful Dark brown color with a light head. This was a fun beer to drink and what a great place and people to talk to at the GABF. The brewer was awesome and the beer was very good and I could taste the subtle spices and off flavors that made this a truly wonderful beer. Blue Corn Rocks…

On tap at brewpub, notes taken on napkin during trip to NM. Dark clear brown, off white head. Nice lace. Very light malt aroma. Flavor is light malt, some caramel and very slight roast. Smooth and fizzy. Clean finish. Well balanced and light. Malty and lightly bitter. Maybe too light for my taste.
