In the bomber bottle from HyVee CB. The cake of yeast was so compacted and there was so much of it that I could not get all of it into the weizen glass. Still, a beautiful pour of rich brown-tinged gold with a huge frothy white head. Nice esters to the aroma. While this was clearly not german in its profile, it was a very delicious and enjoyable beer. I would definitely buy this again.

22-Aug-08 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 12-May-08 for $4.39 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) This medium-flavored hefeweizen features a sufficiently balanced entry of lemony citrus, clove bitterness, bready wheat flavors, and a touch of sweet banana and bubble gum, with a gentle hop flavor and bitterness in the finish. Aromas of bread, brewer’s yeast, clove, banana and cheese. Light-bodied but far from watery, and carbonation is soft but ample. Reasonably dry on the palate, but slightly astringent in the finish. Straw to light-yellow in color and only slightly hazy, although there is a thin cake of yeast glued to the bottom of the bottle. Small, off-white head dissolves to a thick ring fairly quickly. Overall, this is a fine beer, easy to drink, straight-laced, nothing earth-shattering. I like the tendency to keep the ripe banana in check, but the finishing bitterness seems a bit disjoint and unpleasant.

4oz sampler on tap at the brew pub in Fairfield, CA. Smelled of lemon with a hint of honey. Very full flavored hefe that hit the spot. This is something I would buy again.

Clear yellow, moderate head with good lacing and retention. Aroma is banana, clove, wheat, fairly straightforward. Medium to light bodied, very drinkable. Not bad.

From a 22 oz bottle that set ,e back $4.29 at Corti Bros n Sacramento, CA this poured a cloudy yellow with fat white head and heavy lacing. Nose banana.. citrus and flowers. Creamy mouthfeel. Flavor was citrus and banana, with a hint of clove. Long wheat flavored finish. Overall a good hefe.

Banana and clove nose. Nice full mouthfeel, with good citrus and clove. Soft and round finish.

Nice banana aroma, probably some clove. Hazy pale gold color with a creamy white head. A bit thinnish in body. Starts with the requisite iso-amyl acetate, so much so that it seems a bit hydrocarbonish (although that’s really an ester), and there’s definitely light clove. Perhaps a hint of cardomom. Light clean finish with some clove remaining in the mouth. Rather light overall.
