aaronbr (49), Palo Alto, California, USA Oct 14, 2009 Clear, yellowish appearance, lighter than a typical IPA. A lemony aroma, lightly hopped... Sometimes I find aromas in beers that are oddly reminiscent of something completely unrelated to beer. On this one, and this is totally out of the blue, I am reminded of the smell of scotch tape. It’s faint, and not necessarily a horrible thing, but just kind of funny.
Taste is pretty good. Lacks the fullness of a world-class IPA. Peppery, citrusy, not super hoppy. Kind of toes the line between IPA and American Pale Ale. Enjoyable, but not amazing. badlizard (2324), Berkeley, California, USA Sep 26, 2009 Clear yellow with a fizzy white head. Grapefruit and lemon hops aroma and taste with a grassy finish v Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 5, 2009 On tap. Clear deep golden with an off-white head. Some hops in the nose. Medium body, lightly burned caramel and a distinct peachy hoppiness that leave a solid bitterness. 250709 HughConway (364), Alabama, USA Aug 18, 2009 Bomber bottle. Pours copper with thin white head that dissipates quickly. Minimal hop aroma, bitter malt taste thing body. A bit harsh. yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 28, 2009 From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is roasted malt, hoppy and fruity. Good malt flavour base to a solid hoppy fruity flavour lingering into a dry hoppy finish.
Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 14, 2009 Draft at the brewpub. A golden-amber beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of lemon and some malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of spicy hops, leading to a very bitter spicy hoppy finish. A bit raw in the hops. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle courtesy of danielcurtis81. Pours gold with a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus, resin, caramel, some grapes. Tastes of resin, pepper, earthy, some subtle citrus. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA May 29, 2009 Crisp deep amber coloured body with copper highlights and a very thin white head. Aroma of fresh hops, a ton of malt, caramel and a bit of metal. Medium-bodied; Strong taste of fresh floral hops up front fading to a subtle maltiness along with caramel and some cardboardie type tastes as well. Aftertaste is rather mild with actually more malt coming through than hops - but the nuggets that do come through are very floral and not so strong. Overall, a decent IPA - nothing too remarkable, and probably deserves to be in the APA category, but still good to try! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, California on 18-May-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 28-May-2009.
