Bomber. Dark copper colored body with a dense light khaki head. The aroma is grapefruit with some caramel and shoe leather. The taste has some grapefruit and plums. There is a decent caramel balance with a slightly bitter finish. Pretty good for an amber.

Pours with a deep red body topped by s medium thick, off-white head with lots of lacing. It’s sweet and malty with a note of caramel and fruit with an underlying bitter hop note, as well as a bit of sourness. Medium bodied and dry.

Faint caramel aroma, pours a dark ruby red with a dusting of white head. Slightly sweet tasting, with a mild bitter finish. Overall, very drinkable, but not something I’d go out of my way for.

Amber colour with a small beige head. Malty, caramel sweet aroma with hoppy floral notes. Malty, light sweet flavor with a vague hoppy bitter note.

22 oz bottle purchased at Oakville Grocery in Napa Valley. Poured a clear dark orange-red color. Some lace was left behind at the end. Head was two fingers high and off white with pretty good retention. Smelled of subdued dark molasses with an occasional hint of black tea. Delicately sweet throughout with light malty molasses and a hint of carrot. I detected a detracting adhesive tape accent from time to time, but there was a pleasant lingering brown sugar note that made up for it. This is the second time I’ve tried this beer, and it was a bit better than I had anticipated based on my memory of the first time I tried it. It was pretty average overall.

22 oz. bottle from BevMo LaJolla. Pours a brilliant clear red-mahogany color with a small beige head. Rich malty aroma, cookie dough, hints of maple, molasses, alfalfa and clover. Very flavorful, roasty and earth, raisin, alfalfa, clover & floral hops, a bit of citrus zest, however it’s all somewhat oddly balanced and strange. Medium body and gentle carb.

27-May-07 (22 oz bottle: Purchased 26-May-07 for $4.49 at BevMo in La Jolla, CA) With the deep ruby-amber color crystal clear clarity, this globe of beer is simply gorgeous when held up to a light. What, what incredible color! The off-white head rises to no more than a half inch, but recedes very slowly. Lightly caramely and toasty nose is balanced by a bright, fresh, floral-hop bouquet. Dry, toasty malt attack has a slight roasty character, but as with the nose, the bittersweet floral hoppiness quickly engages the palate in the evolution leading to a final blast of sweet flowers in the long-lasting finish. The dry, toasty malts are enjoyable, but while I appreciate the fact that there is a sizeable dose of hops in this amber ale, a style that is usually pretty boring, I’m not wild about the strong floral nature. Medium-bodied with standard carbonation level. Would be much more enjoyable with different hops, but at least this isn’t the usual boring, caramely amber ale.

This was an ok beer, nothing spectacular. A bit malty for my taste. It got better as it got warmer.
